Free-Range Chickens & Eggs
We are currently raising a few different breeds of chickens, trying to determine which breeds we like best that
also lay & set well.  We have decided that purebred Black Australorps, Araucaunas, and our hybrid cross
Cinnamon Queens are so far our favorites, but we are going to try some Blue Andalusians and one or two other
breeds this year as well.  Once we settle on the breeds we like best, we'll focus on breeding only the best animals
from each breed.
We also have a few excellent quality game hens that are bred from several successive generations of chickens
that were selected for only the best traits.  They're very hardy, healthy animals that are great at avoiding
predators.  We'll be raising chicks from these hens and another similar quality rooster, and some will be for sale.
We'll also be raising purebred chicks from our other breeds as well, and those chicks will also be for sale.

(In some pics animals are caged for one reason or another, normally just the roos unless our hens are setting,
then they are penned for their own protection from predators).
Counter
Free-range eggs from pasture-raised hens are the healthiest eggs available, and they have up to four times the Vitamin D
levels of store-bought eggs!  According to the 2007 Mother Earth News Egg Project, eggs raised from hens on pasture may
contain:

1/3 less cholesterol
 1/4 less saturated fat
 2/3 times more Vitamin A
2 times more Omega-3 fatty acids
 3 times more Vitamin E
 7 times more beta carotene

To us, that is more than good enough reason to consume free-range eggs, and we are happy to share the excellent quality eggs
that we raise with others.  Our eggs are not only much more healthy than store-bought eggs from caged hens, but they also taste
better and have a bright yellow yolk to prove that there is an abundance of nutrients inside it.
